Volunteering with the City is a great place to start!

Volunteering is essential to creating a safer, more welcoming community. It gives an opportunity for you to get to know others and feel like you’re making a difference. Ridgefield can accommodate all kinds of helpers with any type of abilities and whether you are looking for long term volunteering or just a day, you are always welcome to join our volunteers.

The City of Ridgefield has many volunteer opportunities including helping at events, outdoor duties, community service and more!

All City of Ridgefield volunteers must have a completed and signed Volunteer Registration on file  – click here to complete registration and waiver. Registered volunteers will be emailed when new opportunities are scheduled, registration only needs to be completed ONCE.

City Volunteer opportunities will be listed below and emailed to our Volunteers email distribution list. To join the distribution list, complete volunteer registration. Volunteer registration only needs to be completed once per individual.

Abrams Park Onslow Nature Play Area – Saturday, April 2. 9am-11am

Lend a helping hand in constructing the new Onslow Nature Play Area at Abrams Park! Volunteers age 7 and up are welcome to come to any of our ongoing volunteer events to take an active role in building this new, innovative play area. Our 4th work party will be on Saturday, April 2 from 9am-11am.

Spring Clean Up – Saturday, April 23

Annual Spring Clean Up is back for 2022! This free event each spring allows residents to dispose of large bulky items, yard debris, non-freon appliances, block foam, electronics, cardboard, and waste. Volunteers (ages 16+ only please) will assist with unloading vehicles and directing traffic.

Volunteer Shifts:

  • Shift 1: 8:30am-11am
  • Shift 2: 10:30am-1pm
